No pay range still scares people off
I watched it happen again this week in one of the MACHINIST Facebook groups — different shop, same mistake. The post said "pay is based on experience," nothing more. The comments were brutal by the next day, and one comment nailed exactly why: "no range means either the pay's bad or they're hoping to lowball."
I ended up updating one of our blog posts about it with the numbers behind why it matters: 306 of the 405 live jobs on our board name a pay number, and postings with a dollar figure in the title pull 2 to 4 times the traffic of ones that don't.
